Ceramics from Start to Finish with Peter Biddulph guides students through the rewarding process of creating objects in clay from start to finish, with demonstrations, printed resources and online support provided throughout. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced students.
Students will explore wheel throwing for both functional and sculptural forms, hand building using slabs and soft clay, and mould making for slip casting original works. Decorative surface techniques such as sprigging and carving will also be introduced.
The course places a strong emphasis on design and finishing, including form, glazing and firing, and how these elements influence the final result. Students will gain practical experience across a wide range of construction and surface, with the opportunity to exhibit their work in the end-of-semester exhibition.
